At FlyingSponge we are on a mission to make language learning authentic, adventurous and beautifully human through our complete language and cultural immersion adventures. We believe that the world itself is truly the best classroom, and that the most unforgettable lessons happen when we share, laugh, and connect with other people (not technology). The philosophy behind our learning experiences is centred primarily around three things that we believe make us human.

Emotion

We understand that tech-based learning has its place, but we understand even better that tapping buttons or writing in silence can get extremely lonely, boring and repetitive. Our experiences guarantee companionship, excitement, and real-world adventure from the moment you arrive. And it’s not just a nicer way to learn: research and studies consistently prove that human-to-human interaction beats isolated study by a mile when it comes to picking up languages fast!

Adventure

Then there’s the classroom learning model: fixed schedules, rigid textbooks and endless tests. We know that this makes language learning feel like a chore. Real life doesn’t follow a curriculum - and neither should your learning. We aim to take you out of the textbook, and into the real world, in a safe and supported manner, where your practice and progress can unfold naturally. This adventurous learning method reconnects us with our early childhood, when curiosity led the way, and we effortlessly soaked up our first words by simply exploring the world around us. As children, we hadn’t experienced a lot, so information stuck a lot better. Your Language Adventure abroad works in the same way, tapping into your natural curiosity and linking new words and phrases to new experiences and memories, making the language learning extremely effective, just as it was when you were a child.

Connection

Perhaps the greatest gift gained from our immersion experiences isn’t actually the language you learn, but the people you learn it with - the host who welcomes you in, the tutor who cheers you on, the friend who shows you their world.
